AJGA to Hold Their Largest Event at Innisbrook
March 06, 2008
The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) has scheduled their all-time largest field of top junior golfers to play the Mizuno Junior at the Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead and Highlands courses, March 20 -23, 2008. Innisbrook, known as one of Florida’s top golf resorts, is located in Palm Harbor - only 30 minutes from the Tampa International Airport. It offers guests 620 suites and rooms to go along with its four noted golf layouts.

The event will have 216 junior players from 26 states and seven foreign countries, including the 2007 Champion Courtney Ellenbogen. There are 91 participants from the state of Florida alone – a whopping 42% of the field. Past members of the AJGA include such well known professional players as Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, Davis Love III, Charles Howell III, Stewart Cink, Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincome, Beth Bauer, Pat Hurst and Cristie Kerr.

March 20th is a practice day with the actual 54-hole stroke play tournament going on March 21 -23. You are invited to be a spectator and admission is free. If you visit Innisbrook during this event, you may very well see some of the future PGA Tour and LPGA Tour players. Make a day of it and have lunch at one of the fine restaurants that Innisbrook offers.

The AJGA is a non-profit organization that gives outstanding junior golfers, ages 12 -18, a place to develop their games and hone their skills in hopes of earning collegiate scholarships. They currently have a membership of 5,000 junior golfers from the U.S. and 30 foreign countries.
