Executive Women's Golf Association Opens Doors to College Students
October 24, 2009
Remember the old days when powerful, male CEOs would make important business decisions on the golf course?

Still happens, only now women are becoming more involved. Female college students can now have better access to both worlds, business and golf, through the Executive Women's Golf Association.

The EWGA said it is opening its membership to full-time, female undergraduate and graduate students with "deeply discounted" membership fees.

"We believe that golf is an essential skill for women to utilize in their careers and personal lives," Pam Swensen, CEO of the EWGA, said in a release. "We offer a 'real world' introduction to how to use golf for business and fun and a wealth of contacts both locally and across the United States."

Nice timing, because the EWGA named this past week as National Business Women's Week.

There are other benefits to memberships, like tournaments, clinics, leagues and special events. Women who are UWGA members also can get discounts at more than 200 courses in the EWGA network.

It also has a scholarship program for women over 30 interested in starting or finishing their undergraduate degrees.

Florida is very active in the organization, with 12 chapters, from Jacksonville to Naples.
