With businesses cutting back on travel because of the economy, quite a few Florida hotels and resorts are targeting vacationers, and that means good deals for golfers.
One of many Florida golf resorts offering deals now is the Doral Golf Resort and Spa. Doral, of course, is home to the Blue Monster, one of the state's more highly acclaimed tracks.
Most golfers have heard the name "Doral," but many might not know the resort has a world-class spa and five golf courses. It's a huge 650-acre resort, taking up virtually the entire town of Doral, it seems.
The resort is offering several different golf packages, depending on what you're looking for.
For example, the Blue Monster two-night package includes 18 holes on the Blue Monster; 18 holes on the Great White course, designed by Greg Norman; free replays on the Red, Gold and Jim McLean courses; daily breakfast buffet; unlimited use of the driving range; and an introductory golf clinic. Rates start at $299 per person per night double occupancy.
Green fees at the Blue Monster are normally in the $300 range this time of year, increasing to $325 from Christmas through April. Florida residents get special rates.
Other packages offer similar deals on one or more of the resort's other courses.
