PGA TOUR Florida Swing Begins
March 04, 2009

The annual migration of PGA TOUR players to Florida begins this week with the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens.

PGA National Resort's Champion Course will play host to some of the world's best players with the sweet swinging Ernie Els back to defend his 2008 title.

In addition to the regular exempt PGA TOUR players this weeks field includes Floridian Erik Compton a two-time heart transplant recipient. Erik received a sponsors exemption to play and is looking to make the weekend much like his last chance on TOUR at last year's Children's Miracle Network Classic at Disney.

Also in the field is the diminutive Hawaiian teenager Tadd Fujikawa who played his way into the Sony Open via qualifying then found himself on the leaderboard Sunday afternoon.

The golf course gave the players fits last year with Ernie Els' winning score a mere six under par. That kind of scoring makes this event play like a major. If you are in the area be sure to go watch these guys play. Then you can see how they handle such a difficult course and try to apply what you learned the next time you play. You could play the same course they play as all the PGA TOUR events in Florida are played on courses open to the public.
