A Florida 4th
July 05, 2008
Our summer has been the typical Florida mix of sun and fun. My oldest is at overnight camp with his cousins, so it’s pretty quiet around here without all of the usual brotherly bickering.

I sent Jack away hoping he would learn to water ski. Sure enough, he impressed us with a letter saying he made it around the whole lake! I decided I’m going to take him to Cypress Gardens when he comes home. Now, he’ll really appreciate the ski shows!

Summer camp is the greatest gift. The kids return home with new skills and sense of independence and adventure.

We are trying to make this summer extra special for Brandon with his brother away. We had a great 4th of July Weekend. We headed over to Indian Rocks Beach for lunch at Guppy’s on the Beach Grill & Bar. I thought the sign was funny (see picture to the right). “Fishaholics Meetings Held Here Daily.”   If you are addicted like me, I suggest you attend. The lobster salad with tomatoes and avocados was delicious!

Afterwards, we went to Clearwater, where my parents had us over for swimming, a cookout and fireworks.  Grandpa grills the best burgers!

I am leaving this week to pick my son up at camp. He may not want to come home, but hopefully, he and his brother had the break they needed. Don’t they say, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder?” I sure hope so!

However, I have a feeling I should start digging out my referee uniform – and let the games begin!
