How to Stretch Your Rebate Check for an Orlando Summer Vacation
April 28, 2008
As anticipation builds for the economic stimulus rebate checks set to hit mailboxes this May, it’s a perfect time for families to begin thinking about applying the money towards a Florida family summer vacation. I thought it would be helpful for your planning to give you some tips on how to get the most value from your rebate bucks:

According to the results of the recent Hotwire 2008 Travel Value Index, Orlando was named the top destination in the east for a vacation that provides the best value and entertainment options. Finding the deals can be overwhelming. Here's a few to get you started. Summer is a great time for values, so if the check arrives, you'll have an idea how to spend it.

Options for less than $600:
  • Universal 2-Park Unlimited Admission tickets valid for seven consecutive days at the two parks. (Total cost: $345.84)
  • SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica (the all-new water park by SeaWorld) admission for seven consecutive days. (Total cost: $339.80)
  • Two-day admission to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. (Total Cost: $132)
  • Admission to Unexpected Orlando treasures including: Orange County Regional History Center, Orlando Science Center, Orlando Museum of Art, Harry P. Leu Gardens and the Central Florida Zoo. (Total cost: $184.80)

Options for around $1200:

  • 4-Park Orlando Flex Tickets (Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld Orlando and Wet N’ Wild) and a four night/five day stay at a value hotel such as Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista. (Total cost: $1,027)
  • 4-Park Orlando Flex Tickets (Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld Orlando and Wet N’ Wild) and a four night/five day stay at the new Point Orlando Resort in an executive suite. (Total cost: $1,246)
  • Free Disney Dining Plan with the purchase of this 5 night/6 day Walt Disney World vacation package including theme park tickets and accommodations at select Disney Value Resorts for stays most nights 8/24 - 9/20/08 for $1,122 for 2 adults and 1 child (3-9) in a standard room. (The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Tickets valid for one theme park per day and must be used within 14 days of first use. No group rates or other discounts apply. Book by June 22, 2008. Ask about packages for other lengths of stay.)
