18th Annual Florida Keys Island Fest
March 10, 2009
Thinking of visiting the fabulous Florida Keys? Then let me tempt you further with the 18th Annual Florida Keys Island Fest. This fun-filled and tasty event will be held the weekend of April 4-5, and you’re invited! My family and I love this event and yours will, too - including your canine (more on that in a second). There will be live music, mouthwatering food and all kinds of art from pottery to paintings.

Artist Victor Leong will also be there. He’s a renowned South Florida sand sculptor who’ll be creating an enormous beachfront sandcastle while you watch. He’ll even offer lessons in sandcastle construction to the young and young at heart.

Island Fest is set for Saturday and Sunday, April 4-5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Founder’s Park, mile marker 87 bayside on Plantation Key.

Got a dog? Load ‘em up and bring ‘em along! They’ll be a Doggie Fun Zone for your furry best friend that includes special activities and photo opportunities. Bring the camera for this one.

And, bring your appetite on Sunday as Islamorada’s finest restaurants will present their signature dishes in a dynamic competition for the titles of best entree, best dessert and other coveted awards in the Taste of Islamorada contest. I can't wait to try the local seafood and savory desserts (hopefully key lime anything)!

For more information, call the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce at 305-664-4503 or 800-322-5397. See you there!
