I recently had an unexpected but very welcome afternoon free and nowhere to go but lunch with a couple of friends and my daughter. One of the crowd steered us to La Bonne Bouche in Lake Worth. Good call.
The menu was filled with French fare, and the four of us enjoyed Tuscan tomato soup, a hearty soup filled with herbs -- great on a day that had been dumping buckets of rain on us. (Welcome to the rainy season. Not to worry -- by the time we left lunch, the skies had cleared.) Then there was a chicken salad sandwich on a baguette, a tomato and mozzarella salad with basil pesto, warm goat cheese salad (pronounced the best ever by the friend who enjoyed it) and finally, a country pate plate. We were all very happy.
I fear we made a tactical error by not ordering dessert -- after I left and read up on La Bonne Bouche a bit, I found out that the locals have been heading there for years for pastries and croissants. I won't make the same mistake again, and now you've been warned: Eat your dessert!
