| Mango Mania: Mango Season in Florida |

One of the special treats I never had before I moved to Florida is the luxury of enjoying a mango picked from a friend's backyard. The fruit is silky smooth (not full of fibers as so many are when I buy them from the store and ripen them on my counter at home) and still warm from the sun. Let's just say it was a dining revelation.
It's mango season now, and I love my mangos. But I don't have any neighbors with mango trees, and one friend who culled three cases of mangos from her yard (IN JUST ONE MORNING) is a drive away. But I found a nearby orchard where I can pick my own in Davie, just off the Turnpike in South Florida.
I've written about Bob Roth's New River Groves before, and mango season is just another reason to stop on by -- it's a "you pick" right in my own back yard.
And if you don't have the energy to pick, just buy a bushel or two from Bob Roth's, enjoy a mango smoothie while you linger and, above all, enjoy some Florida Mangos.
Happy Eating, all. |
