The best anglers in the world, 40 men and women who are the top in of their sport, will meet in Islamorada in the Florida Keys next year for the International Game Fish Association Inshore World Championship.
This is the 10th year in a row that the iconic fishing village of Islamorada will be ground zero for this fly and light tackle “sight casting” event. The action is scheduled for July 13-15, 2010.
Tournament director Sandy Moret of Florida Keys Outfitters, one of the best fly-rodders ever to grace the flats, has invited the winners of 42 qualifying fishing tournaments held this year in the U.S., Trinidad & Tobago, Sweden, Belize, the Bahamas and Australia.
The three-day, all-release tournament, which has been called the “super bowl of inshore fishing,” will target bonefish, tarpon, permit, redfish and snook. Participants and fishing fans will congregate at Mile Marker 82 at the World Wide Sportsman’s Bayside Marina and the Islander Resort.
In the past, the tournament has been part of ESPN’s Outdoor Saltwater Series. For more information on the Inshore World Championship and qualifying tournaments for the years 2010 and 2011, contact Moret at 305-664-5423 or go to www.inshoreworldchampionships.com
