Think outside the beach!
Spring break brings to mind sun, sand and beaches, and by all accounts, Florida has them in spades. But how about celebrating your break from the books this year with a different cup of excitement, one featuring fast, bumpy, adrenalin-filled fun?
I’m talking about the Spring Break Fat Tire Festival. It’s going to be held at the well-marked, multi-skill level, easy-on-the-eyes, never boring Santos Trails (near Ocala) from March 20-22. Hosted by the Ocala Mountain Biking Association, it offers:
• 20-, 30- or 40-mile rides
• Night rides (including one for kids)
• Live music
• Camping
• Bike Demos
• Vendor Village
Here’s an article I wrote titled ‘Mountain Bike Mania’ about Santos. I swear on a stack of brownies that with all the incredible adventures and sights Florida has to offer, mountain biking Santos maintains a secure position on my top-ten list of favorites. You should definitely make a trip there.
