Albury Court - Key West Boutique Hotel
June 22, 2009

Lately I've been writing quite a few blog posts about beaches in the Florida Keys. This is because I recently took a road trip through the Keys and visited all the major beaches. I also spent two nights in Key West since I was taking a day trip out to Dry Tortugas National Park on the Yankee Freedom II high-speed catamaran, which docks at Key West. (Look for a video of that trip soon, right here on VISITFLORIDA.com).

During my three-day visit to Key West, I stayed at a boutique hotel called the Albury Court. Key West is full of Inns, B&B's and boutique hotels of all types. Albury Court is a 38 room boutique hotel spread out over multiple small historic buildings of typical Key West style architecture: clapboard siding, white picket fencing and open-air porches.

Albury Court sits at the corner of Eaton Street and Frances Street, within a few blocks of the docks and the Historic Seaport Boardwalk and within a 15-minute walk of Duval Street. You can see Key West without using your car, and there are many restaurants within a short walking distance.

My room was facing Eaton Street and was separated from the road by a sidewalk and a white picket fence. The narrow front porch was a great spot to sit in the morning to watch the early passers-by.

Fragrant tropical flowers and lush foliage spill over the fences and onto the sidewalks on Eaton Street, reminiscent of a Caribbean island. My room was also sparkling clean and updated and the cool air conditioning was most welcome after a hot day exploring the Keys beaches. The bathroom was updated and spotless.

Some of the rooms feature Jacuzzis and fireplaces, and there is a small pool for guests. Wireless Internet is available.

Key West has many faces, one of which is its party atmosphere. People are out and about all night, especially on the weekends, and the noise level can be high at times. Albury Court is located right on Eaton Street, which is a narrow but busy thoroughfare. It can be noisy at night. If you are sensitive to noise, consider requesting a room that doesn't face the street.

Parking is limited in Key West, and the available parking at Albury Court is on-street parallel parking (free). On my Friday afternoon arrival, the closest parking I could find was a block-and-a-half away. Later I had the opportunity to move my car closer, but chose not to since I really didn't need the car.

Key West is a vibrant, alive, happening place, and Albury Court puts you conveniently and comfortably close to everything.
