Come to Gainesville this Weekend for Art and Music
November 07, 2008
Yes, Gainesville has the Gators. But did  you know the city that excels in sports also excels in the arts with over 25 museums and galleries and eight performing arts theaters? It is true. The Smithsonian named Gainesville a "culturally-attuned" city.

Come to Gainesville to get attuned and amplified this weekend, Nov. 8-9 at the 27th annual Downtown Festival and Art Show held in Historic Downtown Gainesville. Hours are 10-5 both days. Children can make their own works of art at Imagination Station. Stroll around and see 250 artists from all over America.

Music and dance lovers have reasons to rejoice. Three stages will host continuous entertainment by local bands, solo musicians and dance companies.

While in Gainesville stay a while to see cultural centers like the Harn Museum of Art, the Florida Museum of Natural History and Butterfly Rainforestalong with Hippodrome State Theatre. Then walk around Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, Paynes Prairie, Haile Homestead and Living History Days at Morningside Nature Center.
