Iff you like your ghosts and gravestones illuminated with Florida history, then sign up for the Ghosts & Gravestones tour given by Ancient City Tours in St. Augustine. In the dark of night you board the Trolley of the Doomed (I am not making this up!).
Who lurks in the Spanish Military Hospital? What secrets does the Old Drug Store hold? This is a ride into St. Augustine's spookier side. You will enter three haunted buildings and learn about the spirits who just can't leave. Maybe it is really good you have a reserved seat on the trolley so you can get back to where you started! I haven't done this tour and I'm not a big fan of being frightened, but I do like the history side and some stories are best told at night.
Call for tour times at 800-597-7177. Reservations are required. Cost for the tour is $26 for adults (ages 13 and older), children $14 (ages 4012). Visit the Ancient City Tours web site for Internet coupon savings.
Ancient City Tours has a new horse-drawn carriage tour called A Ghostly Gathering and another tour, this one a walking tour, named A Ghostly Encounter.
For those who want data about the unknown, check out the Pensacola Paranormal Society. Hauntings are their speciality. They do investigations and post reports online. One example -- a visit to the Bagdad Cemetery. That would be Bagdad, Fla., located northeast of Pensacola.
