March 07, 2008
This is National (and Florida) Archaeology Month. But you know that already! If you are into digging into the past (see my blog entry for Feb. 29), then here's another event coming up for you.

On Saturday, March 15 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. the South Florida Museum in Bradenton joins the Florida Public Archaeology Network in celebrating National  and Florida Archaeology Month. Activities for all ages including a scavenger hunt (will you find fossils?). This special event is included in regular museum admission.

South Florida Museum is located at 201 10th St. West in downtown Bradenton near the Manatee River. Their phone number is (941) 746-4131. Bradenton is 14 miles north of Sarasota on the Gulf Coast.

Spend the day - after visiting the museum, travel to Anna Maria Island, due west of Bradenton. Anna Maria Island has three towns - Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach. All have beaches with public access. Sift sand between your toes. Watch a sunset. Have dinner at the City Pier Restaurant at Anna Maria Pier.

Sounds like a plan.
