Birds, Bees, Flowers & Seeds at Bok Tower Gardens
June 22, 2009
An art exhibit called "Birds, Bees, Flowers & Seeds" opens Sunday, June 28, at Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales.

From 1-4 p.m. on June 28, illustrator Debra Jane Carey will be on hand to introduce her art exhibit. Carey is a certified botanical artist from Bradenton.

Pirjo Restina, the Garden's curator of education, said that all ages will enjoy Carey's illustrations of colorful butterflies, birds, orchids, insects, plants and even gopher tortoises because the illustrations are scientifically precise and educational.

Viewing the art exhibit in the Visitor Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is included in the price of admission to the Gardens. Her artwork will be available for purchase along with postcards and prints.

Bok Tower Gardens is located 55 miles southwest of Orlando in Lake Wales. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for ages 5-12. Address: 1151 Tower Boulevard, Lake Wales, phone 863-676-1408. The web site was recently redone with a beautiful series of photos on the home page. I find them quite beautiful. Enjoy.
