Going to the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers is always a special treat for me. Inside the museum, I am amazed at Edison's many and varied inventions. Did he ever sleep?
For all of us who are enchanted with one of Florida's most famous winter visitors, here is a must read -- a new book by Michele Wehrwein Albion entitled "The Florida Life of Thomas Edison." This is a story that needed to be told, and Albion is the expert. She uses photographs, manuscripts, maps and newspaper accounts to bring Edison's time in Florida to life.
Albion is a former Edison & Ford Winter Estates curator who now lives in Dover, New Hampshire. You can meet the author in person and hear her talk about Edison's life in Fort Myers. She will be coming to Fort Myers to speak at a specially scheduled Author's Evening on Tuesday, June 23, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Southwest Florida Museum of History.
Reservations are required. Call 239-321-7430. The cost is $10 and includes coffee and dessert, the featured author presentation, a meet-and-greet book signing and admission to the museum. Wow!
