Got Shells? The Sarasota Shell Club does
January 22, 2008
Got shells? The Sarasota Shell Club does. Coming up on Friday, Feb. 15, Saturday, Feb. 16 and Sunday, Feb. 17 is their 45th annual Sarasota Shell Show, a three-day show held at the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium, 801 N. Tamiami Trail (US 41), Sarasota.

Admission  is $4 and that gets you in the door all three days. Hours are 12:30 to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday. You'll see local and worldwide seashells, fossils and shell art. Specimen shells and other shell-related items will be for sale.

If you want to give shelling a try while you are in Sarasota, check out the times of low tides at www.heraldtribune.com then click on "weather" and "local tide times."

Rather have someone to show you shell collecting? Take a look at the Web site for Peggy Williams of Tallevast, Florida. You can sign up for one of her shelling tours. A lifelong Floridian, Peggy has been seriously collecting shells for 35 years by wading, snorkeling and diving.
