Try one new thing - a historic walking tour in Fort Myers
January 08, 2008
The best advice I've heard for the New Year is this - make small changes. Start by doing one new thing. Works for me!

Here's one new thing you can do - take a historic walking tour of the Fort Myers River District. The tours are given on Wednesdays only and will continue every Wednesday through March, 2008.

Walks begin at 10 a.m. and last about an hour and a half. Cost is $5 per person. Reservations required. Call (239)-332-5955. Gather at the Southwest Florida Museum of History, 2300 Peck Street, Fort Myers, FL 33901.

The River District has wide streets lined with tall palm trees. You'll see where the old fort was located and hear legends plus stroll by historic buildings that keep the city's history alive. Thomas Edison built a house and workshop on the river. His friend Henry Ford moved in next door during the wintertime.

After the tour, visit the museum. Admission is $9.50 for adults, $8.50 for seniors.
