From Jazz, to epic films and pop art, 1950's culture has always had a certain appeal to me. During this critically important juncture in our nation's history, entertainment serves an important role in unifying the masses. Palm Beach Pops, an organization dedicated to the preservation of "the music of the Great American Songbook," has created a tour de force show that will transport audiences to this exciting historical period.
The concert entitled, "A Tribute to the Music of Dean Martin & Bobby Darin," brings together new arrangments to some of the crooners' most popular hits. Performed by Michael Andrew, once dubbed "America's Hottest singer" by entertainment giant Merv Griffin, the show will take audiences back to a time when singers exuded elegance. Songs like “Ain’t That A Kick in the Head,” “Mack the Knife,” and a popular favorite “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime,” are sure to inspire at the following shows:
Jan. 6, 7 & 8: Carole and Barry Kaye Auditorium at FAU in Boca Raton
Jan. 11: Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach Community College in Palm Beach Gardens
Tickets are available at www.palmbeachpops.org and range from $29-85 for adults.
