Bringing on the Baristas
April 07, 2008
The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale is going full-steam ahead on its latest promotion: offering free illy coffee to go, in order to celebrate the expansion of the Museum’s Café and Wine Bar.

Really, no April Fool's joke: There is such a thing as a free cuppa joe in the world. At least, in the art world.

“This is a fun and whimsical way to introduce the community to our new chef and the expanded services and menu items we are now offering in the Café and Wine Bar,” says Douglas Ratcliff, Retail Director. “Plus, we’re in an ideal location to serve connoisseurs and coffee lovers in droves. We hope this effort creates a convivial atmosphere for residents and business professionals alike who frequent the area.”

And, of course, he hopes to gets hearts racing to appreciate the artistic atmosphere on the inside of the building as well.

In addition to the java, prepped and served curbside by trained baristas at the museum site for the entire month of April (from 7:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays), there’s additional breakfast items such as organic granola parfaits, baked goods and fruit available for purchase.

The Café and Wine Bar also runs “The Art of Wine Tasting” events, which take place twice each month and feature samplings of boutique wines from around the world, hors d’oeuvres and a highlight tour of an exhibition in one of the Museum’s galleries. Attendees also have the opportunity to join the Museum’s Wine Club, which offers special discounts in the store, café and wine bar.

Take that, Starbucks.
