If you watched the Grammy Awards the other night, you might have been made aware of something: the music of the Beatles is still inspiring movement. But in this millennium, it's more about choreographed, scripted musical theater, modern dance and awe-inspiring gymnastics than it is about frenzied bobbing, weaving and yes, fainting. And this was aptly demonstrated that evening, when at the ceremony a Cirque du Soleil “Love” troupe and the cast from Across the Universe performed from their respective homages to the Beatles.
If you enjoyed those snippets, or if you have seen “Love” and/or Across the Universe in their entirety and can’t get enough Beatles juice into your own body, sign up now for an exciting event coming this summer to the North Florida Fine Arts Center. A newly forming, full-touring modern ballet company, which has just begun auditions this past January, will be granting a special preview of A Day in the Life, based on the music of the Beatles, before their official company debut at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival this coming August.
For modern ballet enthusiasts, it’s a great opportunity to see a troupe in the making and meet the principals. For Beatles fans, well, it’s “A Day in the Life.” Need I say more?
Here’s the fine print: The TREY McINTYRE PROJECT and The University of North Florida Fine Arts Center invite you to a Private Event July 21st, 2007 at White Oak Plantation. Meet Artistic Director and Choreographer Trey McIntyre and his dancers in an exclusive behind-the-scenes viewing of McIntyre’s Beatles ballet, A Day in the Life – before the company’s official debut in August.
