Unless you live under a rock, we all come across brand names and logos every day of our lives. Many might not consider them art, but opinions might be swayed by two exhibitions at the Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) in Daytona Beach that pay homage to everyday items that have become symbolic of American pop culture.
Running until April 28, an exhibition entitled "Barbie® doll! Celebrating 50 Years of an American Icon" honors the legacy of the favorite toy of little girls nationwide. The retrospective displays more than 400 dolls in an attempt to deconstruct the undeniable influence Barbie has had on America. Also currently on display is "Coke®! Not a Drink – A Lifestyle," an exhibition that depicts the rise to popularity of the “drink that changed the world” with cases of soda pop memorabilia and 2-D images.
These exhibitions are not to be missed! To learn more about them visit www.moas.org or call 386-255-0285.
