Sure, we're used to seeing all sorts of Nativity scenes and Christmas villages around our towns and cities this time of year--even here in not-so-snowy Florida But guaranteed you'll enjoy this take on one a bit more.
For one thing, it's a really cool scene, done in cleverly detailed miniature by artist Yohanna Meylemans. For another, it's positioned inside Lisa and Philippe Boet's Bamboo Cafe, a classic French bistro located in Naples. Check it out over a plate of pan-seared foie gras or beef Wellington with Bordeaux demi-glace until January 6.
Bamboo Cafe is also running a simultaneous exhibit, "Scenes from France" by Sandra K. Jackoboice, in the private salon until January 15th. All pieces of artwork are for sale. A signature member of the Pastel Society of America, Jackoboice is also currently putting together a show that will be presented by the Secretary of State and the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs from March 10 through June 16, 2008. The exhibition will be in the Governor's Office Gallery at the State Capitol in Tallahassee.
The work will consist of pastel and acrylic paintings of southwest Florida's "Flora and Fauna" created from the artist's sketches and photographs, and completed in her Florida Studios.
And if all that weren't enough, you can also hear live music at Bamboo, with smooth jazz guitar on Sundays and piano on Wednesdays and Fridays. Sign up for Lisa Boet's newsletters, and never miss an announcement of a musical or art event again.
