For many in West Palm Beach, Japan would seem unbelievably far away. For one week this month, Florida art lovers can enjoy the works of two influential contemporary Japanese artists right in their own backyard.
The palmbeach3 Contemporary Art Fair will be held Jan. 15 - 18 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
It will be an exciting place to check out the interesting collections of 80 galleries from all over the world. A bit of searching at the event will lead you to the booth of Gallery Gen, a top gallery located in New York City that specializes in the "traditional arts and culture of Japan; blending both Japanese antiques and art of other Asian nations". The intricate sculptures and works of Yoshiaki Yuki and the innovative textile creations of Jun-ichi Arai are a highlight of the fair and sure to pique your interest.
Be sure to get there early, and you'll get a free 2009 calendar designed by Yoshiaki Yuki. I highly suggest you make a day of it as this art fair is the perfect opportunity for art lovers to take home a special piece of contemporary Japanese culture. |
