I’ve raved about this stretch of Florida's coast before, but it’s nice to see others picking up on it.
The travel website Cheapflights named 10 places around the world that, "in the spirit of parental sanity" are the best places to get away without kids. While they choose Ponte Vedra primarily for golf, I’d choose it primarily because the beaches here are long and endless and offer the kind of privacy Floridians knew way back in the 1960s. It’s a pleasure to cruise along A1A and see a beach beside you that’s relatively unchanged since the earth cooled.
Plus St. Augustine’s at the end of the road.
Can’t beat that, can you Dubai, UAE; Lunenberg, Nova Scotia; St. Lucia, Antilles; Napa Valley, California; Portofino, Italy; Cozumel, Mexico; Stirling, Scotland; Valle Nevado, Chile; and Lavaux, Switzerland?
If you’re heading that way, visit St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches – and check out VISIT FLORIDA features that’ll introduce you to more of America’s First Coast.
