The Florida Carriage Museum is hosting a festival In honor of our nation’s brave military and veterans from Nov. 5 to 10. It’s the only Florida location selected as an official Veterans’ Day Celebration site by the federal government. In fact, it’s one of only 42 in the United States.
Dubbed “Guardians of Freedom: Celebrating America’s Veterans”, the event will highlight each of our nation’s conflicts.
The celebration begins on Fri., Nov. 5. Daily activities include historical interpreters in costume, displays of military vehicles, and memorabilia exhibits from each war. Historical films on the marquee include “Voices from the Tomb” about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington, plus flicks about the Tuskegee Airmen and the Code Talkers.
Plus, the museum will have its own educational display of the horse in warfare. These service animals have played important roles in battle and helped ensure the survival of our soldiers.
Plenty of entertainment will be on hand too. Cactus Jack & the Cadillacs will be at the Open Air Pavilion. So will the Singing Belles, who'll be performing the Andrew Sisters’ classics. Dancing is in store with the LC Swing Big Band.
The Florida Carriage Museum is near The Villages, a popular retirement community surrounded by Lake, Sumter and Marion Counties.
No doubt, these events will draw many families out for a day of commemoration and fun.
