Forever Florida, located in St. Cloud, about an hour southeast of Orlando, kicks off its Fall Festival Days with the 2nd Annual Harvest Music Jam on Oct. 10, 2009. The Harvest Music Jam is followed by Howling Halloween, a fun family event held on two weekends, Oct. 23-24 and 30-31. Then on Nov. 21, it's time for the 10th Annual Patrick Smith Day, a celebration of Florida history and heritage.
These events are held in a unique spot, and you can read a little about them here. Forever Florida's entrance is a picturesque cattle ranch. It evolves into a vast, 4,700-acre wildlife conservation area encompassing nine distinct ecosystems, including streams, forests, pastures and wetlands. As you can imagine, Florida’s wildlife loves it here, knowing it is a safe haven. (I think lots of us two-legged humans love it, too.)
Florida EcoSafaris offers three types of safaris, and they will be running during all the special events. Alligators, black bears, white-tail deer and the endangered Florida panther are often visible on the various fully guided tour options. Birders will love the bald eagles and other magnificent flying creatures.
By the way, some events close with a drum circle around a roaring bonfire, so you might want to consider camping overnight. There's also an old-Florida-style swimming hole and a play area for the kids.
Guests can come with chairs, blankets and drums.
