While driving from Jacksonville to Pensacola this summer, I made a quick detour to The Candymaker, a gourmet shop with several locations in the Destin area.
Coming from a family of chocoholics, my interest was in the unique confections appropriately named “Not Bad” and “Not Bad Either.” These rich chocolates, luscious with caramels and nuts, are indescribable. Other specialties include Southern pralines, candy and caramel apples, fudge, pecan logs and brittles.
Whichever sweet flavor floats your boat, The CandyMaker is likely to become one of your family favorites too.
The shop is so popular that visitors often call for shipments after returning home. (I certainly did!) And when you order, you are quite possibly going to talk to founder Tom Ehlke himself!
