Bok Tower Gardens will host the Boktoberfest Plant Sale on October 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event in Lake Wales will feature live music, German food, beer and fun for the whole family including tree climbing, face painting, butterfly house tours and more. Gardens' members will have first choice to purchase plants from 8 to 9 a.m. Some of the plants for sale will include orchids, palms, trees, tropical fruits, Florida natives, ferns, bamboo, roses, heliconias, bromeliads, tillandsia air plants and water lilies. Bok Tower Gardens’ annual Sunset & Symphony concert November 6 at 6 p.m. The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the Singing Tower carillon will perform pops, light classics, Broadway hits and patriotic favorites. Bring a picnic and your family to experience a breathtaking sunset and magical starry night on one of peninsular Florida’s highest point. Tickets are $12 for members and $15 for the general public. All cultures are grateful for a good harvest, and the Apalachee and Spanish residents of Mission San Luis were no exception. "Giving Thanks" will be held at Mission San Luis on Friday, November 26 and Saturday, November 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can observe costumed interpreters smoking meat and fish on the barbacoa, and demonstrating the use of native and European plants from their gardens and fields.
