This particular blog is very personal.
Last week my niece, Jessica – beautiful, sweet, with a radiance that lights up a room and the hearts of everyone around her – married her best-friend-forever, Neil, on the sweet, white, sugar sands of Pass-a-Grille Beach (in St. Pete Beach).
The air was perfumed with salt, the Gulf sang its lullaby, and the ceremony was simple and perfect. I cried and my mother cried, and I’m pretty sure I saw a tear or two trickle out of my father’s eyes, though he denied it later.
After they got married, Jessica and Neil kicked off their shoes and strolled down the beach, laughing and wading in the surf. And then we all drove to a nearby restaurant where we drank wine and feasted on steak and seafood.
How I love them and their youth and their passion for each other, and how I love Florida.
Here’s wishing you all light and happiness – and more than a few days that are abundant in sunshine and smiles.
Want to get hitched on the beach, too?
