Set on 200 acres, Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is filled not only with the history and culture of Japan — it's the nation's only museum dedicated to the living culture of Japan — but also with the history of George Morikami and the ambitious Japanese farmers who plowed these lands in the early 1900s. Opened in 1977, it offers 16 acres of manicured gardens in styles spanning from the 9th Century to contemporary styles, as well as permanent and rotating art exhibits. And the Cornell Cafe is among the best museum cafes in the country.
