My family recently spent a long weekend at the RumFish Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach.

We spent time on the beach searching for shells, roasting s’mores, enjoying the nightly sunset and dining at RumFish Grill.

Here are five reasons families will love the this resort...

RumFish Grill – The restaurant features fantastic food -- and a 33,500-gallon aquarium. For an additional fee, you can even swim in the tank on a guided tour.

Breathtaking sunsets – It's almost as if time stands still each night at sunset. Surrounded by the magnificent views, you can visit the Sandbox, grab a drink and let the kids play while you soak up the last minutes of sunshine.

Family activities – We spent time each night at the resort’s Sandbox for a complimentary s’mores roast. Such a fun way to end a day at the beach. My girls also tried out the inflatable surfing ride -- it’s for adults, too -- which provides great laughs and memories.

Access to two resorts – Just 300 steps away, you’ll find the RumFish Beach Resort's sister property, the Tradewinds Island Grand Resort., and RumFish Beach Resort guests have accesss to the Tradewinds' paddle boats, a mini-golf course, the KONK Club (Kids Only, No Kidding) and the High Tide Slide.

Extra living space – Splurge for a family suite at the RumFish and you’ll enjoy a stovetop, full-sized refrigerator, microwave, and toaster – all the comforts of home. With an extra living room, two televisions and separate sleeping areas, we were still able to enjoy our evening once the girls were fast asleep.

If you’re in need of a beachfront getaway, don’t miss this great resort. My family's already talking about a return visit.

Insider Tip:  If you like traveling with your four-legged family members, you’re in luck. The RumFish Beach Resort offers pet-friendly accommodations and a large outdoor area for dogs to enjoy their vacation, too.
