overview

Description:

The Everglades National Park Shark Valley Tram Road is a 15-mile long paved loop which is closed to motorized traffic except the hourly tram tour vehicle. It joins a long list of outstanding Florida walking, hiking and biking trails, and it is especially suited for wildlife viewing.  The subtle beauty of the Everglades is best enjoyed at slow speed and the wide, paved road gives bicyclists access to a variety of wildlife including migratory birds and a large population of alligators.  An observation tower (with water and bathrooms) is located at the half-way point and provides incredible views of the vast River of Grass.  Drinks, snacks and rental bicycles are available at the visitors center.  The visitors center hours are 9:15am - 5:15pm.
