overview

Description:

The first of its kind in Leon County, the Apalachee Regional Park Trail is a cross-country running course. The Park is located at 4½ miles east of US-319 on US-27/Apalachee Parkway. An outstanding venue for cross-county events, this Trail was made possible by the coordinated efforts (and funding) of the Leon County Parks & Recreation, Florida State University Athletic Department (FSU) and Gulf Winds Track Club. Designed to give runners the opportunity to run on several types of natural surfaces, the course is used for local, district and regional school races. When the Trail is not being used for a running event, it is open for hiking, running, and biking. Other Park activities include multiple-purpose fields for soccer and football and an area designated for the Radio Control Flyers Club.
