Located near Inglis, Felburn Park was formerly a limerock mine. Remnants of the mining activity include the 40-acre Phil's Lake formed when limerock mining hit the freshwater aquifer. From its Felburn Park Trailhead, the Withlacoochee Bay Trail traverses five miles west to the Gulf of Mexico on the south side of the former Cross Florida Barge Canal. As it approaches the Gulf, it enters maritime hammocks and salt marsh, providing numerous opportunities to observe wildlife.
