Whoa. If a few hours of biking, trekking, and paddling at one of Pangea's adventure races weren't enough to wear you out, maybe you should check out the upcoming Sea 2 Sea AR. I'm pretty sure you'll be ready to sit on the couch for a few days when you're done with this one.
The event takes place Feb. 14-17, and is an offical, sanctioned event with the United States Adventure Racing Association. Most of Pangea's events have two divisions, but this one's for the big dogs. The 72-hour elite race is a regional qualifier for the USARA National Championship, so expect to see some hardcore racers at this event.
For a bit of romance, the race kicks off on Feb. 14, which happens to be Valentine's Day. Racers will work their way through checkpoints all the way across the state.
Starting out, participants will meet at Palm Coast Villas on Florida's east coast Wednesday, Feb. 13. From there, they'll be transported (no support teams on this race) back over to the west coast between Crystal River and Horseshoe Beach for a Thursday start.
This is an expedition race, and the whole thing clocks in at over 200 miles in distance. Needless to say, this is going to be one heck of an event. For more information or to register, visit www.pangeaadventureracing.com.
