Dalia's note: My parents are having a "berry" good time on their visit from Ohio. For affordable fun with your own family, check out the Florida Blueberry Festival. It's May 4, 5 and 6 in Brooksville. Details are at FloridaBlueberryFestival.org. Now here's my dad:

Be a "Picky" Eater in Florida

By Fred Wheatt

We found another treasure in Florida. It's for folks who are health-conscious, love good, healthy food and lots of sunshine.

We discovered Stafford Blueberries in Brandon, about 10 miles east of Tampa. It's only $6 per pound – a great price – and the picking experience is awesome. Kids through senior citizens were all having a ball picking a variety of blueberries.

There are places like this throughout the area where you can pick your own non-pesticided blueberries. Find one near you at PickYourOwn.org.

We also discovered tons of places throughout the area where you can pick a variety of fruits and vegetables.

So, have fun and become healthy, wealthy and wise as you pick your own fruits and veggies in the Sunshine State.

Dalia's note: During our afternoon at Stafford Blueberries, my parents and I picked more than four pounds of fruit! So far, we've used them in cobbler, pancakes and salads. Got other suggestions? Join the conversation on my Facebook page.
