Nature in a Minute: Golden Silk Orb Weaver

ADD TO FAVORITES

The Golden Silk Orb Weaver – it's one of the most common spiders you'll encounter in Florida. If you've ever been the first one on the trail early in the morning, chances are you've probably walked, ran or ridden into one of those huge webs that they create. For an added bonus, you've probably even had the experience of having a rather large spider crawling on you when you go crashing through their web! That's always fun.

The Golden Silk Orb Weaver is often just called golden orb weaver, or banana spider too. The females are one of the biggest spiders in North America, and if you look closely, you might see a couple of the smaller males in the web.
