Summer is in full effect, and it's time to hit the water! In the warmer months, many outdoorsy types hang up the backpacks in favor of kayaks and snorkel gear. When it comes to aqua-based fun, you know it's hard to beat a trip to the Florida Keys.
There's some great news for you folks that are bound for the Keys this summer - Hawks Cay Resort on Duck Key is now offering kiteboarding and paddleboarding programs. While I haven't tried kiteboarding, I have spent a fair amount of time on a stand-up paddleboard and it's fantastic! If you haven't been on a paddleboard, it's super easy. Trust me when I say you can be upright and paddling in a matter of minutes.
Also, you don't have to stay at Hawks Cay to take part in the kiteboarding and paddleboarding programs. Anyone in the Keys can swing by and take a lesson. In case you do need a place to stay, Hawks Cay is a great family-friendly resort that you can use as a central location for exploring the Keys. While I tend to camp on most of my trips, I treated myself to a little bit of luxury last summer. I stayed at Hawks Cay for a few days, and traveled to Key Largo and Key West (and all points between) while I was there. Loved it.
Now that I know you are ready for a trip to the Florida Keys, visit www.hawkscay.com for more info on their paddleboarding and kiteboarding programs. Have fun!
