It's only about a mile in length, but the Timucuan Trail at Alexander Springs Recreation Area somehow seems much longer. On this short walk, you'll pass through a few different habitats – my favorite section is right up front close to the start of the trail.
When most people think about Alexander Springs in the Ocala National Forest, what comes to mind is the massive first magnitude spring that gushes out millions of gallons of crystal clear water every day. Alexander Springs is a huge draw for camping, swimming and paddling – but don't forget to spend a little time on the Timucuan Trail, too! Here's a short video:
