The Lake Panasoffkee Wildlife Management Area is one of those places that needs to go on your outdoor bucket list. I grew up in Sumter County, lived in Lake Panasoffkee for a few years, and would visit this property pretty often - but it's a spot where you rarely see anyone.
It's a huge property - almost 9,000 acres - with terrific opportunities for all forms of outdoor recreation. A few days back, Amanda and I loaded up our bikes and headed down the Little Jones Creek trail, which turned out to be a great ride. Lots of wildlife and scenery, and we were the only ones around for hours. The trail is about 12 miles out and back, with a few sandy spots, but nothing that was too overwhelming.
