What more could you want in an outing than outdoor adventure coupled with opportunities to see threatened and endangered wildlife? That's what will be going on Saturday March 17 at Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park six miles north of Keystone Heights in northeast Florida. The park is one of the state's oldest and features rolling sand hills and a deep ravine with crystal-clear streams.

A park ranger will guide the 45-minute hike which starts at 5 p.m. and visitors will descend 81 stairs into the ravine. The hike at Gold Head Park will take participants along a fern trail at the bottom and back up the stairs. In the process they will learn all about the species that depend on the ravine for survival.

If you decide to go to The Ravine at Mike Roess State Park, be prepared with bug spray water and a flashlight and wear closed-toe shoes.

The program is included free with regular park admission. For more information call 352-473-4701.
