Here in Florida, we've got trails. Lots of trails. Trails to hike, trails for paddling, paved and off-road trails for biking. And we've also got tons of long distance trails, too – including a 581-mile section of the 3,000-mile East Coast Greenway that stretches from Key West all the way up to Canada.

The East Coast Greenway is a work in progress, but Florida has the largest portion of completed trail of the entire route. On the East Coast Greenway in Florida, you'll travel mainly near the coast along A1A. Currently, 28 percent of the route is located on traffic-free pathways, with large completed sections located from St. Augustine to Daytona Beach, and along the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail

Friends, these are exciting times. Bike touring in Florida gets better and better every day, and I always smile when I see a bike geared for long distance riding when I'm out and about. Long distance touring happens more than you might think, too. On a recent trip to Flagler Beach I happened to meet two cyclists who were on their way to Key West. They were having the trip of a lifetime!
