Snowbird School: Florida Golf Resorts' Hidden Gems
By Tim McDonald
Looking for a little warm Florida golf this winter, but having trouble deciding where to go? If you are, it might be because of information overload. With so many famous Florida golf resorts, which do you choose?
You can't go wrong with any of Florida's big-name golf resorts, but you could also consider some of the state's less-publicized resorts. Here are some of my favorites.
- Mission Inn
: I love this place, with two excellent courses and a ton of things to do for the family.
- Orange Lake Resort
: This is hardly a small resort, with four good courses, but it's often overshadowed by bigger Orlando
- Inn at Wildwood
: Located on the Forgotten Coast
, this is a small resort with one course, with plenty of outdoor activities nearby in wilderness areas and the Gulf Coast.
- Shula's Hotel and Golf Club
: This resort in south Florida is owned by the former Miami Dolphin's coach. It also has a great steakhouse where I once ate 16 ounces of prime beef and lived to tell the tale.
