Universal CityWalk: Shopping, Food & Entertainment

    By Carrie McLaren

As the hub for nightlife at Universal Orlando, you'll find delectable eats, unforgettable entertainment and more at Universal CityWalk

When the sun begins to set at Florida's theme parks, you can continue the fun at Universal CityWalk. With its year-long renovation now complete, Universal CityWalk now offers even more great dining, entertainment and shopping options.

I recently took the time to explore and here’s just a sampling of what I loved about the area.

    Good Eats

If you’re in search of good meal in Orlando, Universal CityWalk has something for little ones and their parents, too. Try specialty restaurants such as Emeril’s, or Antojitos Authentic Mexican Cuisine. Or maybe you’re in the mood for a slice of pizza from the Red Over Pizza Bakery or a Slaw Dog from the Hot Dog Hall of Fame During my visit, I dined at VIVO Italian Kitchen, one of the newest and hottest spots for dining at CityWalk. The modern décor leads to a down-home Italian cuisine, including my personal favorite -- the hand-pulled mozzarella made daily.

For a real treat, sit at VIVO’s chef counter, where you’ll see the masters at work, creating fresh pasta and preparing delicious entrees. Be sure to ask your server about special dishes not on the menu. The Veal Osso Bucco with a cheesy polenta and a glass of wine was a perfect pairing after a day at the parks. And for unique dining at CityWalk, check out The Cowfish, part of Universal’s newest expansion. The restaurant pairs sushi rolls, unique craft burgers, and “Burgushi” -- featuring sushi rolls using burger components -- and pick-up style sandwiches created using sushi ingredients.

    CityWalk Shopping

Save plenty of time for shopping at CityWalk. With numerous kiosks throughout the walkways and the official Universal Studios Store, there’s a souvenir for everyone. You’ll find many of the same items you see in the parks – from Harry Potter memorabilia to the Minions and gifts from The Simpsons' hometown of Springfield. If your little ones love face paintings and hair braids, they can look their best as they enjoy the CityWalk atmosphere.

    Activities

CityWalk is more than just shopping and food – you can challenge your family in a round of golf at the Hollywood Drive-In mini golf course. With 36 themed holes, choose between the “The Haunting of Ghostly Greens” and “Invaders from Planet Putt” – or choose both!

For experiencing your favorite movies to watching the latest box office hits, CityWalk’s AMC Cineplex offers 20 screens, including IMAX. Save time and purchase your tickets online or at one of the many kiosks located outside of the theatre.

For a live show experience, take the family to see Blue Man Group. The nightly presentation mixes technology, music and laughs for a show that touches each of the senses making it ‘can’t miss.’

Universal CityWalk is an added bonus to the thrilling parks. It’s a place to reconnect with your family, where great food and fun intersect.
