Archeologists say people have lived on Cedar Key since 500 B.C. These days, the old-fashioned fishing village is a tourist center known for its shopping and seafood. The golf carts locals use to get around are an indication of the small scale and slow pace of life here. Expect to find festivals throughout the year, with two of the most noteworthy being an arts festival in April and a seafood festival in October.
