Description:

Amelia River Cruises offers narrated historic and wildlife sightseeing boat tours of Amelia Island and Cumberland Island on a daily basis.  New Tours include two-hour Eco-Tours, Adult Twilight BYOB Sunset Cruises with live music, and quarterly day excursions to unique destinations throughout Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Our history and nature boat tours offer the rich history of Fernandina Beach, the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry, Old Town (home of the early Indians and Europeans), Ft. Clinch (a pre-Civil War fort), as well as the beautiful wilderness island of Cumberland Island National Seashore.

Along the way, you will experience two unique and rustically beautiful islands, with views of wildlife such as dolphins, manatees (seasonally), alligators, wild hogs, manta rays, stingrays, exotic birds, bobcat, coyote, and the wild horses of Cumberland Island.

Our summer Eco-Tours offer you first-hand encounters and education about the wetlands that make up Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.  You'll drag an authentic Otter Trawl shrimp net, learn from our marine biologist about all the creatures we collect, then watch as we release the catch back into the wild.

Our newly-added Twilight Cruises offer adults a two-hour sunset cruise geared towards a more mature crowd, with live music and views of wildlife and the beautiful landscape of Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.  We encourage you to BYOB on our river cruises.

Shrimping Eco Tour

Now - August 29, 2015
An interactive exploration of the St. Marys River Basin, our guests will be coached on the operation of an Otter Trawl shrimp net. Historically developed in Fernandina, this net is similar to the nets used by the commercial shrimp industry today. Deploying and retrieving the net is part of the hands-on experience. The catch will then be displayed in an on-board aquarium and each of the creatures will be identified and released back into the wild. We continue to explore the backwaters and tidal creeks that make up this estuary before returning to historic Fernandina Beach.
