A 729,000-acre unit of the National Park Service in south Florida. Located in eastern Collier County, it is part of the Everglades ecosystem and a critical watershed for the Ten Thousand Islands area to the southwest. A diverse wild area of cypress swamps, prairies, pinelands, hardwood hammocks and mangrove estuary and is home to a variety of wildlife.

The preserve provides regularly scheduled Ranger-led swamp walks, canoe/kayak trips, bike rides and other special activities and events throughout the winter season. Check website for schedules and call the Big CYpress Swamp Welcome Center to make reservations for ranger-led programs.
