Was sold over the phone a 4 night five day vacation package - we paid $248.00 up front and would get that money back when we signed in at the Resort. All we had to do was agree to attend a two hour presentation discussing timeshares at this Resort. We were very excited as our children are moved out and we have always wanted to stay in Florida for some of the winder months. We have tried several times to book and it was always full. This week we spoke to someone who said we could stay at a Holiday Inn 18 miles from this area (inland coco). When I looked it up, it had a 2 star rating... not my idea of a nice trip. And being so far from the beach I said this is not Cape Canaveral (which all of the emails they sent me stated "Destination: Cape Canaveral, Fl" The lady on the phone then told me Coco Inland and Cape Canaveral were the same place. OK..... I may be from Canada but I am not stupid. I told her she should look at a map (Not her fault I am sure, this is what she was probably told to be said) After being on the phone with a supervisor (as the first lady was not helpful and very rude) the supervisor (after interrupting us several times) tells us we can stay at the Resort for an extra $70.00 per night (even though we were told it was full and this is why we could not stay there). After some discussion we decided to stay at a Best Western (also a 2 star) for three nights (that is all that was available) and we will pay the fourth night ourselves. We will still attend the 2 hour presentation and I am looking forward to letting them know why I will never purchase a timeshare with this company INTERCONTINENTAL HOTELS GROUP but will be meeting with another company that offers timeshares (which they offered to put us up in the actual resort we would be buying the timeshare) but we would lose our $248. Lesson learned. I hope I can get this out there so other people will not get ripped off. What they promise you and what you actually get are two different things. Unfortunately they will not be getting our business and I will be sure to let other Canadian People looking for timeshares there not to deal with this company (social media is great to get this kind of stuff out there to protect other innocent people).
